Ether (Space) is given as a fifth element
Sometimes when we look at people we love performing, we think “i would love to be able to to that…or i’d never do that…” and we might not even know what they’re going through…
…Maybe they’re not enjoying it
If I think of watching Prince play the guitar, or Daniel Day Lewis act on screen, or Mark Rylance on stage, or Janet Dale and Lyndsay Duncan on stage in The Merry Wives of Windsor
One way you can access these qualities in your work, is by Making The Most of Your Energy.
Earth
Fire
Air
Water
The ancient Greeks believed that everything in the universe was made up of these four elements - and this was a belief held in medicine, philosophy, science and it naturally follows that people standing up and speaking or acting would have know this.
During this bit…we’re going to work on
- Visualising the energy of the elements
- Anchoring the elements to a familiar person you’re familiar with
- Feeling the energy of the elements
- Identifying your natural state of energy
- Adapting your state to Make the Most of Your Energy
A CEO once said to me….that all sounds a bit shoes and socks off to me
It’s understandable that you’ll feel this. But the choice is yours…either work on this…or not.
Keep looking at people…and wondering how they do it…
The worst is when you hate the energy you feel you’re putting across…you feel tired, like you’re just repeating the same thing
USING THE ELEMENTS FOR SELF CRITIQUE
You can look back at what you’ve done and rather than assess it intellectually, you can think…there’s too much fire in that, too much “push”…i need to relax and let if flow a bit more…let’s go.
You don’t always assess your work in this way…sometimes you need to dig deeper into your Why, or rewrite the content, or as Edwyn Collins would do you rip it up and start again.
