We asked you to guess whether this quote originally came from a Book or a Film and you will have discovered, or been reminded, that it’s the opening line of the book 1984 by George Orwell.

In this case the clocks striking is normal…but if they’re striking 13?

Well then we know we’re in a world that seems normal…but isn’t. In fact it’s far from normal…and we kinda sense that right from the get go.

As i was writing this overview for you, I couldn’t resist going back to the 1984 version of the film to see if the opening was the same as the book. When I say 1984 version…it was released in 1984 and stars John Hurt, Suzannah Hamilton and Richard Burton.

• The Energy of the Actors - Richard Burton is different
• This is a different sort of audience - normally it would be positive. Even if it was negative it wouldn’t be as weird as this
